12 OctMarket report Autumn 2024
As the nights start to draw in and the temperature starts to drop we will begin to move away from some UK crops. English salads and English lettuce will begin to be phased out for Spanish product towards the end of the October. UK berries will also start to be withdrawn and replaced by european fruit. Be aware that we do usual see spikes in price around the change over period until the new season settles down.
The first of the chestnut season has now started and is looking fantastic!
UK brassicas are in full swing and are looking great, lets hope that we dont have anymore heavy rains. If the weather continues mild and not too wet we should be in for a good season. We are working closely with a number of local growers for products such as cabbages, cauliflower and kale
Squashes and pumpkins are now well into the swing of things. Prices and products are looking great, be sure to make the most of this fantastic season. Another great product to be using this season is Jerusalem artichoke, dont miss out on these little stunners. Finally, it wont be much longer until we start to see the first of the chervil and parsley roots, fantastic for purees.
